TripleBright II: The Premier Ultraviolet Light
At UV SYSTEMS, the good just keeps getting better. We are introducing the next generation TripleBright - the TripleBright II. This ultraviolet display light is designed for museums and - any collection where powerful lighting is required to properly display fluorescent mineral specimens. Like its predecessor the TripleBright, the TripleBright II is constructed for ease of installation, durability and flexible functioning. It's guaranteed to provide countless hours of high quality output to enhance the natural beauty of any fluorescent mineral collection.

Enhanced Features
The TripleBright II offers a significant upgrade in features and benefits over the original TripleBright.

  • 20% more power from the SW model.
  • 27% more power from the MW model.
  • 36% more power from the LW models.
  • 40% less weight than the original TripleBright.

In addition, the TripleBright II carries the same innovative features of the original, including a design that prolongs lamp life (US Patent 6,479,947 and 6,838,837), multiple options for wavelengths, and easy maintenance.

Innovative Lamp Function
The TripleBright II and all TripleBright series of UV display lights allow the units to be turned "on" and "off" multiple times without affecting the life of the lamps. This feature is nearly unique for this type of product*. The lamps are instant start and no starters are used. In other UV display lights, the life of both the lamps and starters are reduced each time the lamp is turned "on." Tests on the TripleBright series have yielded no lamp failures even after 2 million "on-off" cycles. In addition, the TripleBright lamps are inside-coated to reduce mercury migration into the quartz or into the phosphor in MW or LW lamps, resulting in longer effective lamp life.

Several Wavelengths Available
The TripleBright UV display lights are available with custom design lamps (sometimes called bulbs or tubes) for five different UV wavelengths. So you can customize your display depending on the particular specimens in your collection. Each unit uses one lamp, and all lamps are electrically interchangeable. The lamp options include:

  • LW350 (at 352 nm)
  • LW 370 (at 368 nm)
  • MW (at 312 nm)
  • SW (at 254 nm)
  • SW (at 185 nm), for scientific use, such as Ozone

A unique Dual TripleBright II is available on special order. It has provisions for TWO lamps (bulbs) in the one housing and each lamp can operated separately. The Dual TripleBright II (which is exactly the same size as the regular TripleBright II) can have any combination of: SW, LW350; or SW, MW; or MW, LW370; or SW, LW370; or any other combination of two separate lamps. The Dual TripleBright II is especially recommended for displays that need both SW and LW when there is not adequate room for two separate TripleBright II light assemblies.

UL Approval and TripleBright II UV Lights
Recently UV SYSTEMS, Inc. contracted with a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) to have a limited number of TripleBright II UV lights tested per the UL 1590 (Luminaries) requirements. Those specific TripleBright IIs passed, had NRTL/UL stickers applied, and now have all been sold. Those customers required that their specific TripleBright IIs meet UL requirements and they were willing to pay the extra expense. The reason that we do not have all TripleBright IIs tested is because it would cost approximately $6,000.00 initially, plus $1,000.00 yearly to maintain that approval. This would make the price of all of the TripleBright IIs prohibitively expensive, and most customers do not need or want those UL stickers. However, TripleBright IIs which have been made identical in every way to those tested are available upon request. With each of these identical TripleBright IIs, the customer will receive a paper copy of the test report by the NRTL together with a letter from UV SYSTEMS, Inc. stating that they are the same as those actually tested. Please note that these lights will not have a UL sticker on them, and that the test report does not imply that these identical TripleBright IIs have been seen or tested by a NRTL. As far as we know, the UV SYSTEMS TripleBright II is currently the only UV display light model which includes some that have been NRTL tested and UL stickered. Please contact UV SYSTEMS if you would like more information.

Quartz Bulb Enhances SW Transmission
The TripleBright II UV display light uses quartz in its SW lamp *. Quartz has the highest transmission of any lamp material with about 91% transmission. Most other SW display lights use an UV-C glass lamp, which yields about 79% transmission. In addition, UV-C glass is more likely to solarize than quartz.

Designed for Trouble-free Use and Easy Maintenance
Input from mineral museum curators greatly influenced the design and function of the TripleBright series. The TripleBright II includes a built-in cooling fan so the lamps can be maintained at their optimum operating temperature and UV output.

All of the TripleBright II UV lights are easy to maintain. There's no need to remove the unit from the display-no awkward fumbling with hard-to-get-at screws. With the TripleBright II, the covers can be opened by hand with one simple knob - no need to lift or adjust the unit.

Designed to be used with a timer
With the TripleBright II enhancing the beauty of your fluorescent mineral collection, you may want to finesse your presentation with a timer of similar quality--the UV SYSTEMS, Inc. T-20 Timer.

* Note the UVP model UVGD-68 also uses quartz in its lamp, and can give long life with many "on-off" cycles. However, it takes about 2 to 4 minutes to reach full output when first turned "on", is available in only one wavelength, and yet is more expensive than the SW TripleBright II.
